Georgia Coan is an award-winning podcast producer, investigative journalist, and reporter with over seven years of experience in the media industry. She worked in the Long Form Audio department of BBC News where she made radio and podcasts for Radio 4, the World Service, and BBC Sounds like File on 4, The Climate Question, and Profile. 

She previously worked in the BBC’s news podcast unit where she produced the award-winning daily news podcast Newscast and the youth investigations podcast The Next Episode. 

Georgia was a founding member of Radio 4’s first daily new podcast Beyond Today where she produced and reported on stories about mental health, extremism, and internet culture.  

Her reporting has been featured on BBC Newsbeat, the BBC News TV channel, radio, and online. Her stories have been featured in other publications like the Daily Mail, The Mirror, ITV, The Insider, and many more. 

Georgia has covered topics such as grief, mental health, extremism, and internet culture. She specialises in stories which are aimed at underserved communities and audiences in the U.K.

Before working in podcasts, Georgia was a digital and radio producer for BBC Three Counties where she trained as an apprentice from 2016.

Georgia grew up in Luton, but is currently working in London. She’s extremely proud of her working-class roots, and champions for class diversity in the media industry, both on-air and behind the scenes. She recently set up the digital network ‘The Class Room’ on Instagram which offers support and advice to working-class creatives in all areas of the media industry and campaigns for socio-economic diversity. 

Georgia aspires to be a reporter and broadcaster in long-form documentaries and podcasts, inspired by Louis Theorux and Stacey Dooley (who is from her hometown of Luton).

Outside of work, Georgia enjoys watching crime dramas and documentaries, going to music gigs and the theatre, making TikTok videos, and drinking excessive amounts of tea.
